Sian-Baku block train route to be extended to Slavkov Euro Terminal

The 3rd Railway Economic Forum was held at its prestige in the Polish city of Krakow. Representatives of ADY Container LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, participated in the forum, which was attended by logistics operators from Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, and railroad companies interested in increasing the volumes of cargo on the Europe-Asia route.

At the Forum it was noted that Poland is situated at the crossing of North-South and East-West routes.

Last year, approximately 90% of 6300 and more trains sent from China to Europe passed through Poland, and that number was growing.

Steps taken to increase the volume of container transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Route – the creation of new infrastructure, the release of feeder ships, the modernization of the management system – were all also mentioned by the participants of the event.

The importance of state support for the development of railroad transport through the Central corridor was emphasized at the forum.

The importance of expanding the terminal’s capacity as a logistics hub as well as the Sławków EuroTerminal playing an important role in diversification of routes have both been highlighted.

Natig Jafarov, director of ADY Container LLC, informed that the company has successfully carried out a test container transportation from Sławków terminal to Astara station in Iran.

He noted that 3396 kilometers of transportation carried out with the participation of international partners had overcome within 9 days.

It was noted that the route of container train Sian-Baku has already been delivered to Ukraine and Turkey. The issue of extending the route to the Sławków Euro-Terminal is on the agenda. It is also planned to launch regular container block trains on the Sławków -Baku-Central Asia route.

More than 100 delegates from China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Poland attended the III Railway Economic Forum.
