The next train connecting the continents has arrived in Port of Baku

The second container train carrying freight from Turkey to China arrived in Baku Port on December 26. The 42-container caravan, each 40 feet long carries 1,400 refrigerators.

The freight train, which will cover a total of 8,693 kilometers, runs on the Istanbul (Marmaray) -Kosekoy -Ankara -Sivas -Kars line in Turkey and connects to the transport network abroad in Akhalkalaki station.

The train will run on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway via the Caspian Sea to Kazakhstan and from there to the Chinese city of Xi’an. Members of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Consortium – ADY Container (Azerbaijan), KTZ Express (Kazakhstan), GR Logistics (Georgia) and Pacific Eurasia Logistics (Turkey).

This train will be the first to be delivered from Baku Port to Aktau Port via the Beket Ata feeder owned by Kazmortransflot, operated by ADY Container. The project can be considered the result of successful cooperation between Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, Turkish Railways, Georgian Railways and Kazakhstan Railways within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route International Association.

We would like to inform you that the first container train carrying cargo from Turkey to China arrived in Baku Port on December 10, and after loading on the feeder vessel “Beket Ata” for 6-7 hours, it left for the port of Aktau in Kazakhstan. In addition, a total of 12,672 TEU containers have been transported across the Caspian Sea via feeders on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route this year, and from 2021, trains will run on this route twice a month.
