The delegation of Azerbaijan Railways is on a visit to the Slovak Republic. The delegation consisting of Iqbal Huseynov – Deputy Chairman of the Organization, Faraj Hagverdiyev – Europe Representative, and Natig Jafarov – Director of ADY Container, met with the leadership of Metrans – Central Europe’s leading rail and logistics company and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. Metrans is owned by the German transport and logistics company HHLA, which operates the port of Hamburg. The meeting was represented by Peter Kiss – Executive Director of Metrans A.S., Martin Koubek and Stefan Esztergalyos – authorized representatives of the company for business development.
Metrans is an international intermodal rail company providing containerized freight and logistics services. With more than 25 years of history, the company has Europe’s largest railway and terminal network.
The company provides rail freight services in the European continent, mainly in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Slovenia, Poland and Italy, as well as shipping container goods from the ports of Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Croatia across the European continent.
At the meeting issues of cooperation between Metrans and Azerbaijan Railways were discussed. where Iqbal Huseynov gave detailed information about the reforms carried out in the country to increase the volume of railway transportation in our country, and director of ADY Container, Natig Jafarov, informed about the international transport corridors through the country and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
It must be emphasized that, cooperation with the leading European rail and logistics companies will boost the transit flow of containers from Europe to Central Asia, China and vice versa.
